Like if somone calls me that his net doesn't work and I see that he is using a 3rd party router for uverse net, I'm not really going to troubleshoot with them on the phone. The main issue with 3rd party equipment isn't really the quality, it's more the support for it. If you had uverse TV, then it could affect it since uverse is through the internet. It shouldn't, since dtv is through satellite. They are also compatible with the smart home manager app so you will have an accurate overview of your network. If you have the ATT one, they will be more inclined to solve that. If something happens and the tech support sees it's not an ATT product but a third-party repeater, they won't do anything to help you. I'm pretty sure you can make those work too, but those aren't extenders but repeaters. Ofc third-party extenders are also an option and they may also be cheaper. So check first then order if you need to. It sounds stupid but even tech support reps use that app sometimes to check customer's network and devices connected to it. It will help you determine whether or not you need an extender and where to put it. What I'd recommend is getting the app first and using that to check around your home for the Wi-Fi signal strength in the rooms and outside. Those extenders are made to work with the uverse network and are compatible with the smart home manager app which let's you see your home network and all the devices connected to it. ATT offers the AirTies extenders which I am pretty sure are compatible with your modem - I can double check that tomorrow at work for you. It sounds like you might need the Wi-Fi extender. WiFi extender like AirTies if I go with the above 3rd party router? If a 3rd party router is worth it in my case which one is recommended? I was considering this one as and amazon have great reviews on it. My biggest concern comes in when we have guests as it adds to the WiFi load. Sometimes I only get 1-2 bars and although WiFi works I’m not getting the best WiFi quality. 3 iPhones, iPad Air and MacBook Air.īelieve it or not I rarely have issues with WiFi cutting out, but my main concern is WiFi quality through my home and just outside my home. Nest doorbell, Nest thermostat, 3 directv wireless boxes, directv wireless bridge, direct set top box. I also connect 10-13 devices to the uVerse at any given time. I just want to be sure I maximize my WiFi.
